About Dallas PSSA

History

Dallas PSSA was founded in 1982 as the Oaklawn Softball Association and started with a handful of teams. OSA joined NAGAAA (North American Gay Amature Athletics Alliance) in 1983 and became part of one of the largest GLBT sport organizations in the world. In 1989 the name was changed to the Pegasus Sofball Association and in 1999 to the Pegasus Slowpitch Softball Association.

Giving Back to Community

Dallas PSSA has a rich history of giving back to the GLBT community. Organizations have included food pantries, AIDS resources, and Youth First Texas.

This year, Dallas PSSA will be focusing our charitable support on local area food banks.

Miss PSSA

One of Dallas PSSA's most memorable traditions is the crowning of Miss PSSA. The winner on the Miss PSSA Pageant also competes in the Miss Charity America Pageant. In May of 2008, the crown was passsed to Ellie Mae, Miss PSSA 2008...and a member of the Round Up Saloon Texas Titans.

PSSA and NAGAAA

Dallas PSSA proudly sponsored the NAGAAA Gay Softball World Series in 1988 and 2004. The 2004 GSWS, co-hosted with the North Texas Women's Softball League, was one of the largest in history and hosted more than 300 teams across 4 open divisions and 3 women's divisions.

PSSA Today and Beyond

The 2009 PSSA season started in March and saw the league grow to its largest ever. The league is currently composed of 26 teams classified in 4 NAGAAA divisions and playing in 3 conferences (Cowboys, Mavericks, and Stars).

With great events like the Beat the Heat Tournament and a strong representation in the GLBT community we expect to grow even more over the next few years.
